Quick update from Utrecht (& Marken & Volendam)

Estoy en Holanda visitando a Laura y Christof esta semana, para conocer a Yara, su hijita de 4 meses, luego me voy a Barcelona a pasar unos días con mi hermano, para planificar la vista de nuestra familia el mes que viene, así que no creo que vaya a subir notas. Como 'una foto vale mil palabras', aquí van 4 fotos para compensar.		Visitng Laura and Christof in the Netherlands this week, to meet Yara, their 4-month old daughter, then heading to Barcelona to spend a few days with my brother, planning our family's visit next month, so I don't suppose there will be any entries. Since 'a picture is worth a thousand words', here are 4 pictures to make up for it.

I keep this blog mostly to stay in

touch with family and friends I've

been leaving here and there over

the years. I grew up in Chicago and

Monterrey, but since 2001 Madrid,

Boston, Valencia, and San Francisco,

where I've lived since 2008, have

been home at one point or another.

I sometimes post personal updates

but, as the blog's title suggests,

another topic rules this corner

of the blogosphere.

Music--listening to, reading about,

and trying to concoct--monopolizes

most of my personal time and my

conversations with friends, and thank

goodness this medium allows people

to listen to the actual music I'm

trying to write about, compensating

for my lack of flair. I mostly listen to

British indie, but you can also find

American indie, post-rock, electronica,

and Rock en español in my iTunes

library. I spend a good part of my

vacation time (and money!) going

to concerts and music festivals.

I also dig watching movies and reading,

but I have to admit most of my reading

is restricted brief pieces in magazines

and periodicals, some online, some in

print; the last decade or so I've probably

only read 3 or 4 proper books per year.

I like to travel and take pictures, too.

I studied Computer Science (and then

suffered through an MBA), so I'm into

technology and science-related matters.

I've been an Apple user most of my life.

I try to be aware of current affairs,

but mostly stay away from politics.

Eating well and staying fit are things

I wish I were better at, but ain't

disciplined enough.
