Mechanical Wonder

The day before yesterday I traveled on Line A, the oldest of the subway system. As if traveling in wooden trolleys weren't strange enough, would anyone have imagined that in another time escalators made of wood were built and not only that, but that they still work?

(I'll be out of Buenos Aires November 15 through 20, so no updates these days...)

The last time I was at the original Saks 5th Avenue in New York, they still had and were using the old wooden escalators there, too.
