This Week's New Music Releases
Quería subir al menos tres reseñas esta semana pero no me he podido poner a ello: Moi et mon camion de Merz, The Seldom Seen Kid de Elbow, y 3 de Portishead. Los primeros dos salieron esta semana y el de Portishead sale el mes que viene. Como sustitutos de los comentarios, les dejo los videos del primer single de cada álbum. La canción de Merz es fácilmente mi primer canción de 5 estrellas de este año; he estado escuchándola constantemente desde noviembre y pareciera que no puedo cansarme de ella. La de Elbow está buena, pero no es la mejor canción en su disco; lo mismo va para la de Portishead. Esta semana salieron también discos nuevos de Gnarls Barkley, Daniel Lanois, y una extraña re-edición de The Sun and the Moon de Bravery, con un disco adicional con versiones nuevas de todas las canciones que salieron el año pasado. No sé por qué hicieron eso, sobre todo cuando las versiones nuevas no son mejores que las anteriores. Finalmente, conseguí un EP de Four Tet llamado Ringer que sale el próximo mes y he estado disfrutando mucho; un buen balance de su material más viejo, más basado en samplers, y su material más nuevo, más cargado a los sintetizadores. | I wanted to post at least three reviews this week but haven't been able to get around to them: Merz's Moi et mon camion, Elbow's Seldom Seen Kid, and Portishead's 3. The first two were released this week and Portishead's comes out next month. As a stand-in for the reviews, I'll leave you with a the videos of the first single off of each album. Merz's song is easily my first 5-star song of this year; I've been listening to it almost constantly since November and can't seem to get tired of it. Elbow's is allright, but not the best song on the record; same goes for Portishead's. This week also saw the release of new records from Gnarls Barkley, Daniel Lanois, and the odd re-release of Bravery's The Sun and the Moon, with a 2nd CD with new versions of all the same songs they released last year. Not sure why they did this, specially since the new ones aren't better. Finally, I got my hands on a new Four Tet EP called Ringer that will be released next month and I've really been enjoying; a nice balance of his older, more sample-based stuff and his newer, more synth-based stuff. | |
